What is the 3R Medical Pilot?

3R Medical is a doctor-led service dedicated to helping people recover and rebuild their lives after treatment for prostate or breast cancer. We understand that even when hospital treatment finishes, many individuals continue to experience challenges like fatigue, changes in mood or memory, sexual issues, or difficulty returning to daily life.

Our pilot programme offers structured, personalised support to help you rebuild your health and confidence. It is designed to complement your existing NHS care and address the "care gap" that often exists once active hospital treatment ends. By participating, you'll not only benefit from our comprehensive approach but also contribute to improving post-cancer recovery care for others in the future.

What Does Participation Involve?

If you take part in our pilot programme, you’ll receive:

Comprehensive Testing

  • Full blood tests (start, mid-point, end)
  • Body composition scans (weight, fat, muscle)
  • Fitness tests (e.g., VO₂ max, grip strength)
  • Optional: Memory and brain function checks
  • Optional: Gut and dietary testing

Dedicated MDT Support

  • A personal recovery plan, designed by our medical team
  • One-to-one sessions with a doctor, physiotherapist, dietitian, psychotherapist, and sexual health specialist
  • Monthly check-ins or sessions to support your goals

Clear Progress Tracking

  • Regular questionnaires (every 3 months) for energy, sleep, mood, memory, and wellbeing
  • Printed or digital progress report after each major team review
  • Option to involve a partner or loved one

Duration: The pilot programme runs for 9 months.

Format: You’ll attend a mix of in-person sessions at our London clinic (Fitzrovia Hospital) and convenient virtual sessions. You'll always know what to expect next.

Why This Pilot Matters

Most NHS follow-up focuses on checking for cancer recurrence, which is vital. However, many people still face significant day-to-day challenges after their treatment ends.

The 3R Medical pilot programme aims to:

  • Bridge the recovery gap with joined-up, practical, evidence-based care.
  • Help you restore your energy, strength, confidence, and connection.
  • Carefully measure progress to understand what changes over time in energy, wellbeing, and function.
  • Assess whether joined-up support can reduce the need for extra NHS care.
  • Contribute to building a stronger national model for post-cancer recovery.

Your Privacy is Protected: All results from the pilot will be shared anonymously. No personal details are ever published.

Who Can Join the Pilot?

We are inviting a small, dedicated group of people to take part in this important pilot programme. Spaces are limited.

You might be eligible if you:

  • Are aged 35 or over.
  • Have completed surgery or radiotherapy for prostate or breast cancer (this could have been any time in the past).
  • Feel ready to actively focus on your recovery.
  • Can take part in appointments online and/or at our London clinic (Fitzrovia Hospital).

Please note: Other eligibility criteria may apply. We will discuss this with you during an initial conversation.
